TouchStone
This series builds on the previous Desert series by continuing to explore the incredible texture and abstracted design naturally created by stone. Walking among these giants on Cape Ann, deep cracks, shadows, and infinite colors are found. The use of copper leaf as a ground for the play of light and layer works to create life-like minerals in the great spaces they inhabit. This subject acknowledges the rich history of this area's working quarries and the excavation of its bedrock to build the literal foundation for its people. It acknowledges that objects of great strength and ancient symbols of immovability are also broken and changed over time. This increases their captivating beauty-to see new shapes in the old, and to find comfort in their break-ability.
Exhibited and sold via Decouvert Fine Art Gallery in Rockport, MA, July 2023.
